Description:
I absolutely LOVE this gorgeous roughly faceted, beautifully bezel set in sterling silver, moss prehnite necklace and matching pair of earrings.
The gorgeous opaque mossy green stone necklace has three soldered links on either side, with both joining a center piece of three prenhite stones and three smaller red stones for a lovely contrast. Hanging below the center piece is the shiny silver STARGREY pendant, onto which I have mounted a coordinating red/brown swarovski crystal.
The elegant but sturdy sterling chain that attaches to the bezel links is of the highest quality and has a lovely easy to work with hook closure.
The Necklace chain length measures 16" and the center piece with the pendant measures 3"
This one of a kind set is so lovely in person and is will work beautifully with so many outfits and almost any occassion.....To me these pieces have a understated, almost earthy elegance to them but at the same time the quality stands out loud and clear...Just gorgeous!!
ABOUT THE PENDANT:
I have long admired the work of Artist Cathy Hoynes of www.greyhoundstudies.com and I absolutely loved working with her on this project. Kathy seemed to 'get it' immediately when I asked her to come up with a greyhound drawing that incorporated a starfish somewhere in the image.
Kathy really outdid herself with the breathtaking image she presented to me, which we have now dubbed 'STARGREY'.
With no revisions necessary, I immediately had the image cast in sterling silver and suspended in a slightly twisted sterling oval and topped with a substantial curlicue bail.
I am thrilled to introduce this original artwork keepsake Greyhound pendant with it's elegant swirling S shape head and neck and curly starfish anchoring the base.
WHAT IS THE GREYHOUND STARFISH CONNECTION?
Those familiar with greyhound adoption may also be aware of the starfish poem and how it relates to the mindset of those who adopt these elegant, gorgeous, deserving, hounds.
My inspiration for these jewelry pieces stems from my personal identification with the poem.
The Starfish Poem
As I walked along the seashore
This young boy greeted me.
He was tossing stranded starfish
Back to the deep blue sea.
I said, "Tell me why you bother,
Why you waste your time this way.
There's a million stranded starfish
Does it matter, anyway?"
And he said, "It matters to this one.
It deserves a chance to grow.
It matters to this one.
I can't save them all I know.
But it matters to this one,
I'll return it to the sea.
It matters to this one,
And it matters to me."
